Anger Management and Emotion Regulation Counselling
Anger is a normal human emotion, but it can become a problem when it feels difficult to control or begins to affect your relationships, family life, work, or how you feel about yourself. You may find yourself reacting more strongly than you intended, saying or doing things you later regret, or struggling to communicate when emotions become intense.
People seek anger management counselling for many different reasons. You may want to better understand your emotions and change patterns that are hurting your relationships. An incident at home or work may have made you realize that something needs to change. You may also have been encouraged or required by a lawyer, employer, insurance provider, or the court system to attend counselling.
I provide anger management and emotion regulation counselling in Metrotown, Burnaby, with both in-person and online sessions available.
Seeking help with anger does not mean that anger defines who you are. Counselling can provide a non-judgmental place to understand what happens when emotions become intense, what may be underneath your anger, and how you can respond differently.
How It Works
My Anger Management Counselling program typically consists of six sessions. Additional sessions can be arranged depending on your needs and goals.
Sessions may cover some or all of the following topics:
Understanding anger and other emotions
Recognizing experiences and emotions beneath anger
Developing greater self-awareness
Expressing emotions in healthier ways
Empathic listening and communication
Setting healthy boundaries
Managing intense emotions and developing emotion regulation skills
Relaxation and calming strategies
Conflict resolution
After our initial discussion, I will tailor the sessions to your individual circumstances and goals. Depending on your needs, we may also explore:
Self-esteem
Interpersonal and relationship patterns
Mindfulness and awareness of emotions
Values and differences
Past experiences that may influence present reactions
Documentation
I can provide documentation confirming your attendance when required by a lawyer, insurance provider, employer, court, or other referring organization.
If you require documentation for a particular purpose, we can discuss what is needed before counselling begins.
