焦慮與憂鬱
Anxiety and depression can affect how you think, feel, relate to others, and manage everyday life. You may find yourself overwhelmed by worry, feeling increasingly discouraged or disconnected, or simply struggling to feel like yourself. You don't have to navigate these challenges alone.
I provide anxiety and depression counselling in Metrotown, Burnaby, with both in-person and online sessions available.
What Anxiety Looks Like
Anxiety often shows up as persistent or overwhelming worry. Your mind may race, making it difficult to relax, focus, or feel in control. Anxiety can also show up alongside panic attacks, perfectionism, procrastination, or struggles related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Common Symptoms
Persistent Worry: Feeling frequently worried, on edge, or tense.
Physical Symptoms: A racing heart, shortness of breath, restlessness, or muscle tension.
Irritability: Feeling easily annoyed, frustrated, or overwhelmed.
Difficulty Concentrating: Finding it hard to focus or make decisions.
Sleep Problems: Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or quieting your mind.
What Depression Looks Like
Depression is more than simply feeling sad. It can affect your mood, energy, motivation, relationships, and ability to enjoy everyday life. You may feel discouraged or emotionally empty, withdraw from others, or find that things that once mattered to you no longer feel meaningful.
Common Symptoms
Persistent Sadness: Feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or emptiness.
Loss of Interest: Losing interest or pleasure in activities you once enjoyed.
Changes in Appetite: Eating significantly more or less than usual.
Fatigue: Feeling exhausted or lacking energy and motivation.
Sleep Problems: Difficulty sleeping or sleeping much more than usual.
Feelings of Worthlessness: Experiencing guilt, hopelessness, or harsh self-criticism.
Because some medical conditions can contribute to symptoms of anxiety or depression, it may also be helpful to speak with your physician or another healthcare professional when appropriate.
How Counselling Can Help
Anxiety and depression are often influenced by a combination of thoughts, emotions, relationships, past experiences, current circumstances, and patterns of coping. Counselling provides a safe and supportive space to better understand what you are experiencing and what may be contributing to your difficulties.
Together, we can explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop more effective ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, and strengthen strategies for coping with stress and life's challenges. The goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you develop greater understanding, resilience, and confidence in moving forward.
You don't have to figure everything out on your own. We can work through it together.
