Couples and Relationship Counselling

Relationships can become difficult even when two people care deeply about each other. You may find yourselves caught in repeated arguments, feeling increasingly distant, or struggling with trust, intimacy, communication, or differences that never seem to get resolved.

Perhaps the connection you once shared has changed into frustration, disappointment, or resentment. You may feel unheard or misunderstood, or wonder how your relationship reached this point and whether things can improve.

I provide couples and relationship counselling in Metrotown, Burnaby, with both in-person and online sessions available.

How Counselling Can Help

Every relationship has its own history, strengths, challenges, and patterns. Counselling can provide a supportive space to understand what is happening between you, what may be keeping you stuck, and what might help you relate to each other differently.

Together, we may work on:

  • Improving communication and managing conflict more effectively

  • Understanding recurring emotional and relationship patterns

  • Rebuilding trust, connection, and emotional safety

  • Exploring differences in values, expectations, intimacy, or parenting

  • Developing greater understanding of your own and your partner's needs

  • Finding healthier ways to respond when disagreements become difficult

The goal is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help you better understand what happens between you and develop more constructive ways of moving forward.

Relationship Counselling for Individuals

Ideally, both partners are willing to participate when working on a relationship. But what if your partner does not want to come to counselling?

You can still come on your own.

Relationships involve patterns between people, and changes made by one person can affect how those patterns unfold. Individual counselling can help you better understand your own reactions, needs, boundaries, and ways of communicating within the relationship.

We can explore what happens between you and your partner, identify patterns that may be contributing to conflict or distance, and consider what you can do differently. Although you cannot control whether another person changes, you can develop greater clarity about your own choices and how you want to respond.

You don't need to wait for your partner to be ready before beginning this work.

You Don't Need to Face This Alone

Relationship difficulties can leave you feeling frustrated, lonely, confused, or uncertain about what to do next. Whether you come as a couple or on your own, counselling can provide a place to slow things down, understand what is happening, and consider how you want to move forward.

My name is Chi, and I provide couples and relationship counselling in Metrotown, Burnaby. My approach is collaborative and draws from relationship, attachment, and family systems perspectives to help people better understand themselves and the patterns that develop between them.
